Holland Professional Driver Eugene Webb Reaches 3 Million Mile Safety Milestone

Holland professional driver, Eugene Webb, recently reached the astounding safety milestone of 3 million consecutive miles driven without a preventable collision. Eugene is now part of an elite group of just 12 active Holland drivers to have reached the 3-million-mile record.

To lend some perspective to such an astronomical figure, driving 3 million miles is equivalent to making 6 round-trips to the moon, or circumnavigating the globe at the equator over 116 times. Not only has Eugene driven all that distance, but he has done so without a single preventable collision.

Eugene has been driving professionally for 39 years, and has spent the past 25 years with Holland. He currently operates out of the Indianapolis, IN service center. Eugene logs 610 miles per night 5 nights per week on his route between Indianapolis and Mississippi.

“Safety starts before you even get behind the wheel,” Eugene said. “It's important to get a good night's sleep the night before so that you are fully rested while on the road. Once you're out there, you need to make sure that you always pay close attention to your surroundings, and never tailgate. Leave space and take it slow.”

“Professionals like Eugene are essential to our company's success,” said Scott Ware, Holland President. “His expertise behind the wheel allows us to consistently deliver on our service promise of on-time, damage-free shipping. We would like to thank Eugene for his hard work and diligence behind the wheel. His efforts help keep Holland great, and make our highways safer for everyone.”

Eugene was honored for his safety achievement with a celebration at our Holland Indianapolis service center. Holland President, Scott Ware, presented Eugene with a personalized, 3-million-miler leather jacket, and a commemorative plaque. Eugene declined a brand-new 2016 tractor and instead donated the equipment to the Indianapolis service center.
