Canada shippers praise Holland

Canada shippers praise HollandCanadian shippers recognized Holland for exceeding benchmarks for excellence with the 2009 Canadian Transportation & Logistics Shipper's Choice Award. This is the second time Holland received the honor in the award's eight-year history.

The award is the result of the Shipper's Choice Awards Survey, undertaken in partnership with the Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT) and the Canadian Industrial Transportation Association (CITA), two associations with thousands of members responsible for the buying transportation.

Conducted by an independent research firm, the survey provides shippers, 3PL service providers and freight forwarders across Canada the opportunity to set benchmarks for service-provider performance on seven key performance indicators (KPIs). They then rate their top providers against the benchmarks. The seven indicators are: on-time performance, equipment and operations, information technology, competitive pricing, customer service, problem-solving and value-added services.

Two other YRC Worldwide subsidiaries, YRC and YRC Reimer, also received the Shipper's Choice Award.

Lenders agree to extend provisions under credit facilities

On Oct. 12, YRC Worldwide announced that our lending group extended until Oct. 30 important provisions of our last bank amendment. It's another sequential step that provides us additional flexibility as we continue working with our lenders to reach a global solution that fully supports our comprehensive plan. The new amendments extend the expiration of the revolver reserve amount, and extend the suspension of the minimum liquidity covenant and the due date for the asset-backed securitization (ABS) commitment fee. The action shows that our lending group continues to support our comprehensive plan.

YRCW continues to be a leading IT innovator, placing 62 on an annual list of the nation's most innovative users of business technology. The company was recognized for its new application, the Pricing and Activity Management System.

IMS services index shows expansion

Industry NewsThe U.S. economy's service sector showed expansion in September for the first time in more than a year, according to the Institute for Supply Management (IMS). The monthly services index rose to a 50.9 reading, from 48.8 in August. It was the first expansion in 13 months.

hollandregional.comLast month, we launched hollandregional.com, our redesigned website for information about our company, services and much more. While the functions remain the same, its new look makes it easier to navigate.

Users of the new site have responded to our survey, letting us know their experiences. Here are a few tips:

  • If you are having problems viewing documents, your pop-up blocker may be the issue. Either remove the blocker or allow pop ups from the site.
  • Wait to select "remember me" on the login until after you change your temporary password.
  • If you are having trouble accessing your personal account, reset your password. Simply click here to go to the login page. If need be, click Forgot your Username and/or Password? and follow the prompts. If your email address has changed or you are having trouble getting your user name or password, please email us. One other tip: if several people share the same login, remember to communicate internally when you change your password . . . or just set up individual logins.
  • To change your profile settings to edit content information, change preferences, add/remove locations, and request additional service provider access, just click Your Profile on the top menu. From there, select the profile function you would like to edit, then save your changes.
    Note: one of the most-used functions under Your Profile is Preferences. You can set defaults for Quick Tools View and change the way that tracking results are viewed. Try it out!
